Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix 2009

Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix 2009 will be held on 3 April 2009 until 5 April 2009 at the Sepang International Circuit. This is the 11th edition of F1 Grand Prix held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. The 2009 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix is a 3 day events, starting off in the 1st and 2nd day with a number of supporting race such as the FORMULA BMW PACIFIC Race and the GP2 ASIA Race before the main race of Formula 1 Grand Prix on the 3rd day.

Last year, in 2008 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, held on 21 – 23 March 2008 at the same venue, Kimi Räikkönen from the Ferrari team won with the best time of 1:31:18.555. Robert Kubica of the BMW Team came second, 19.5 seconds later. While Heikki Kovalainen from McLaren-Mercedes Team was the third fastest driver to cross the finishing line.

The Ferrari team not only won the 2008 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix but had emerged as the Formula 1 Season 2008 overall winner with 172 points. McLaren-Mercedes took the second place while BMW Sauber, third.

Like prior years, supporting events in conjunction with the Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix will be held in Kuala Lumpur and all around Malaysia, before the major events start. Among the supporting events are: Kuala Lumpur Grand Prix City Festival 2009, Malaysian Grand Prix (GP) Sale 2009 and F1 Roadshow Campaigns.

New trophy for the 2009 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix

This year, the Sepang International Circuit will introduce new trophies for the 2009 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix winners. The trophies are costumed made and crafted out from pewter and has a mirror finish, designed and made by Tumasek Pewter. There will be four of these trophies presented, one each for the 1st Placed Driver, 2nd Placed Driver, the 3rd Placed Driver and the Constructor Winner’s Trophy to the Winning Constructor.
